Westbrook Family - New on the blog!

Meet the Westbrook family.  A young beautiful charming family of four who will make your heart melt.  Sarah is sooooo sweet and such a beautiful mom.  Her husband adores her.  By the way he holds her, kiss her, and hugs her, I can tell that he is deeply in love with her.  Her children are the cutest.  As you can tell by looking at these pictures, Sawyer stole the show.  As a photographer, getting families to relax for a lifestyle session can he a hard task.  However, as for the Westbrook family, if you told them to jump they jumped high.  If you told them to tickle, they became tickle monsters.  If you told them to run, they acted like they were running a marathon.  Were all singing, laughing, running, and jumping to keep the children in their comfort zone.  Photographing the Westbrook family was truly an honor.  Together, they are photographer's dream family.  If there is one advice I would like to remind the Westbrook family, it would be "family is like music, some high notes, some low notes, but always a beautiful song."  My hope is that they can cherish these pictures forever and it is a reminder of how little, charming, beautiful, and innocent her children were as they get older and blossom into young adults.

Lauren & De'Rail

My husband and I met Lauren and De'Rail at a wedding we went to in July 2017.   A month later, I received a telephone call from Lauren asking me to take her engagement pictures.  We planned the location and date weeks in advance.  However, similar to the wedding we went to in July, the chosen day was forecasted to be a rainy day.  The morning of her session, I called every indoor location in Spartanburg and Greenville asking if I could use them as a back up location.  Nonetheless, no one had any availability due to "wedding season."  October 7, 2017 was a very popular day to unite as one before God.  I prayed and prayed.  I got a clear umbrella in case it rained.  I said to myself, "they will dance in the rain" if it starts raining during their session.  Luckily, it was the perfect day for pictures.  Not a single rain drop.  Sometimes we assume the worse and panic, but Lord knows, if we do what we do without panicking, we can accomplish great things.  So if it rains on their wedding day, my advice to Lauren and De'Rail will be, "maybe in your mind, rain on your wedding day is the worst thing that can happen. A sign, if you will, that you have really bad luck.  But, says Samuels, in some cultures, rain on your wedding day is considered good luck, symbolizing fertility and cleansing. And maybe ... just maybe ... you will see a rainbow."  During our session, Lauren and De'Rail danced to Ed Shereen "Think Outloud".  Watching her smile as he held her, twirled her, kissed her was breathtaking.  As Ed says in the song:

So, honey, now
Take me into your loving arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars
Place your head on my beating heart
I'm thinking out loud
Maybe we found love right where we are

I believe Lauren and De'rail found love.  Good luck Lauren & De'Rail on your lovely fairytale.

Soon to be Mr. and Mrs. Sims.

Samantha & Keith ~ High School Sweethearts

Samantha and Keith have been together since high school.  They remind me of my husband and I. High school sweethearts, who grew up in the same town, going through the college journey together.  Just like my husband and I, Keith is a college football player and Samantha the supportive girlfriend since high school.  Both of these amazing individuals are education majors.  Samantha has a sweet personality and Keith, unexpectedly, is very shy.  I asked my husband to describe Keith, who is one of his favorite people on earth (whom he also got to coach in high school), and he said these three things about Keith: 1) he values relationships, 2) he loves people, 3) he will one day be a great father, husband, and leader of men.  This session meant a lot to me because I got to see the growth between these two over the past two years.  If I had one advice for Samantha and Keith, it would be Corinthians 13:4 "love is patient, love is kind, it always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves, love never fails". I am grateful for the opportunity to capture the love between Samantha and Keith and I ask God to continue leading them through this beautiful journey called life.

A moment of Awakening

Even as a photographer, I forget the importance of documenting my marriage and the love my husband and I have for each other.  We are high school sweethearts.  I want our five children to be able to look back at how much we love, cherish, and care about one another.  Last week, I randomly called my husband and said, "honey, let's go take pictures of the two of us".  "Who will be the photographer?" He asked. "Me and my tripod" I responded.  We went out to one of our favorite spots and took about 5-10 pictures of the two of us.  Looking back at our special moment and realizing it has been 5 years since we took a professional pictures of just the two of us, I almost cried. I am very thankful I had my moment of awakening.

"Love was in the air when he laid eyes on her.
Childhood; middle school and even high school with her.
Walking towards her, he greeted her.
Anxiety spiraled as he hugged her.
Conversation grew deeper as he sat with her.
Wanting to get closer because he was falling for her."
