Frequently Asked Questions
What is unposed photography?
Although some may believe unposed photography means you get to the session, run around, hug and the photographer captures the moment. To be quite honest, it is very different. Some tend to mistake “unposed” for what is called “photojournalism”. Photojournalism is completely raw — meaning there are no directions given. However, during an unposed session (what I offer), as I capture your natural moments, I will have to place you in good light or give you little direction. There may be a collection of prompts and games used to get you and your family to connect to and forget about the camera - in return, that will allow me to give you authentic images filled with natural movements, real expressions and genuine emotions.
If you are one that finds posing to be a challenge this style of photography may be right for you. By using the prompts and games that I use, I will work hard to get you out of your shell and make photographing you and your family fun and easy! By using the unposed method, you never have to ask me, “what should I do with my hands?”. Instead, you will leave the session excited about the fun and memorable experience you just had.
How Can I Book Session?
A consult will take place prior to your session, either over the phone, in-person, through e-mail or via video conference. Majority of sessions are taken outdoors at a location of your choice or I can pick a location for you, with the exception of newborn, birth and wedding photo sessions. These types of sessions are usually taken at the hospital, birthing center, client's home, studio, wedding chapel, church, or reception hall. I have an indoor studio for small projects that may interest you such as newborns, cake smash, boudoir and etc. A quote, contract, and invoice (if quote is accepted) will be sent via e-mail. The client will review the quote, accept it, sign the contract, pay the invoice, and review/sign the model release (optional) and send it back to Simply Claudia Portraits. Simply Claudia Portraits will review the signed contract and model release and countersign both documents. The client and Simply Claudia Portraits will have an electronic copy of the contract and model release with both signatures that outlines the agreement between both parties.
I will take the photographs, choose the best pictures from the session, edit them, and send a proof gallery to the client from our client viewing website. The client will choose the image(s) s/he would like for Simply Claudia Portraits to edit based on the contract and invoice. Once those images have been chosen and final edits are made, the images cannot be substituted or exchanged for a different image. Final gallery will be sent to the client. Clients will be provided with a coupon code to download the agreed amount of digital images for free. Additional images may be purchased for a fee per digital image or the entire session may be purchased at a discounted rate. Prints and products are also available to purchase (optional). Online galleries are only available for 15 days. After 15 days, the gallery will be removed.
All portrait sessions include a $75 non-refundable retainer due at booking, which covers my creative fee for the client/photographer consultation, time, skill, post-edits and online gallery.
